From the ranking of top 10 transceiver suppliers issued by LightCounting in its May 2023 Optical Vendor Landscape report, it has seen a significant shift in the composition of optical transceivers market during the past dozen of years. And with the departure of a majority of the Japanese and U.S.-based suppliers from the market by 2020, it has left much of the business to Chinese suppliers.

As illustrated in the chart above, Innolight and Coherent share the top two spots on the market share list. The difference in revenue between them in terms of sales of optical transceivers and active optical cables is smaller than LightCounting’s revenue estimates. Cisco and Huawei are included on the list, with the latter being the largest supplier of 200G CFP2 coherent DWDM modules.
According to LightCounting’s report, Innolight, Coherent, Cisco, and Huawei collectively dominated more than 50% of the global market for optical transceivers in 2022. Innolight and Coherent earned approximately $1.4 billion each from transceiver sales, with Cisco and Huawei following closely behind. LightCounting predicts Innolight and Coherent will face stiff competition from the two systems houses.
